Bank Statement Redaction

Redact a bank statement for your landlord

Proof of funds should not mean handing over your account number, full balance, and every transaction. RedactVault redacts a bank statement in your browser — the file is processed on your device and is not sent to RedactVault servers for redaction.

Free to start. No subscription required to redact a single statement.

What gets caught

The details a statement exposes

Opening a bank statement turns on detection tuned for financial paperwork — account and routing numbers, card numbers, identifiers, names, addresses, and dates are highlighted automatically for your review. Free-text transaction descriptions vary too much to detect reliably, so you can black those out yourself in the same editor before exporting.

Account & routing numbers

Bank account numbers, routing/sort codes, IBAN and SWIFT/BIC values, and labelled financial identifiers.

Card numbers

Debit and credit card numbers, expiry dates, and the last-four digits printed on statements.

Social Security / tax IDs

SSN and ITIN values that sometimes appear on statements, applications, and account paperwork.

Name & home address

The account holder name and mailing address blocks at the top of most statements.

Dates & balances

Statement dates, dates of birth, and currency amounts you may not want a landlord to see.

Transaction memos

Free-text transaction descriptions can reveal employers, providers, and habits. Memo text varies too much to auto-detect reliably, so black these out yourself before exporting.

How it works

Three steps, all in your browser

1

Open the statement in your browser

Select your PDF or image. It is processed locally by your browser and is not sent to RedactVault servers for redaction.

2

Review the highlighted details

RedactVault highlights account numbers, identifiers, names, and other sensitive values. You confirm, add, or remove boxes before anything is final.

3

Export a flattened copy

Export a redacted file with the marked text removed and metadata stripped — a copy you can hand to a landlord or agent.

Why browser-local matters

Your statement does not leave your device to be redacted

Most online redaction tools transfer your file to a server first. RedactVault runs the redaction in your browser, so the document content is not sent to RedactVault servers for redaction. Account, billing, and support data are still handled server-side like any normal web app.

Before you send it

Always review the redacted copy before sharing. Automatic detection helps you find common values but is not guaranteed to catch everything. Scanned or photographed statements rely on text recognition (English-focused) and need a careful visual check, since image-based exports cannot be verified by re-reading a text layer.

How the processing works

Check the security and accuracy details

Read how RedactVault processes documents locally and where its detection limits are, so you know exactly what the tool does and does not do before trusting it with a statement.

Ready when you are

Redact your statement now

Open your statement and review the highlighted details. Nothing is shared until you export the copy you choose to send.
