Terms of Service
Effective Date: 12 February 2026 · Last Updated: 12 February 2026
Welcome to RedactVault.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the RedactVault website, application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using RedactVault, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
RedactVault is operated from Ireland.
Email: support@redactvault.com
Throughout these Terms, “RedactVault”, “we”, “our”, or “us” refers to the operator listed above. “You” refers to the individual or legal entity using the Service.
2. Description of the Service
RedactVault is a browser-based document redaction platform designed to allow users to:
- Detect sensitive information in documents
- Review and modify detected items
- Apply permanent redactions
- Export redacted documents
RedactVault is designed to process documents locally in your browser unless explicitly stated otherwise. We may modify, improve, or discontinue features at any time.
3. Eligibility
You must:
- Be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction); or
- Have legal capacity to enter into binding agreements; and
- Use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
If you are using RedactVault on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
4. Account Registration
Some features require an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials
- Notify us immediately of unauthorized access
You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.
5. User Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- The documents you process using the Service
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable data protection, privacy, and regulatory requirements in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to GDPR (EU/EEA), HIPAA (US), CCPA/CPRA (California), PIPEDA (Canada), and equivalent local laws
- Verifying that redactions are accurate and complete before sharing or distributing documents
- Maintaining backups of your original documents and important data
RedactVault provides tools to assist redaction but does not guarantee 100% detection accuracy, legal compliance, or regulatory certification. You must independently verify redaction results before relying on them.
6. AI and Automated Detection Disclaimer
RedactVault uses a combination of rule-based pattern matching and AI/machine-learning models to detect sensitive information. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Automated detection is probabilistic and may produce false positives (incorrectly flagging non-sensitive content) or false negatives (failing to detect sensitive content)
- AI-powered features, including face detection and named-entity recognition, rely on third-party models and cannot guarantee complete or error-free results
- Detection accuracy may vary depending on document format, quality, language, and content type
- Automated detection is an assistive tool and is not a substitute for manual review by a qualified human reviewer
You bear sole responsibility for reviewing and verifying all redactions before finalizing or distributing any document.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or copy proprietary components of the Service
- Interfere with system security, integrity, or performance
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to abuse or overload the platform
- Use the Service to conceal evidence of criminal activity or to facilitate fraud
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without prior notice.
8. Fees, Payments & Subscriptions
Certain features require a paid subscription. If you purchase a paid plan:
- You agree to pay all applicable fees as displayed at the time of purchase
- Payments are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Your payment information is handled directly by Stripe and is not stored on our servers
- Subscription plans renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled before the renewal date
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and no partial refunds are issued for unused time
You are responsible for any applicable taxes in your jurisdiction. We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice before the next billing cycle.
8.1 Free Tier
If we offer a free tier or trial period, it is provided at our sole discretion and may be modified, limited, or discontinued at any time without obligation or liability to you.
8.2 Refunds
Fees are generally non-refundable. However:
- EU/EEA consumers: You have the right to withdraw from a digital services purchase within 14 days of purchase under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, unless you have expressly consented to begin using the Service during the withdrawal period and acknowledged that this waives your right of withdrawal.
- All users: If you believe you are entitled to a refund under applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction, please contact us at support@redactvault.com.
9. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in RedactVault — including software, branding, content, and technology — remain the exclusive property of RedactVault and its licensors.
These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Service or any intellectual property rights therein.
You retain ownership of your documents. We claim no ownership over the content of documents processed locally in your browser.
10. Third-Party Services
RedactVault integrates with or relies on third-party services including, but not limited to, payment processors, authentication providers, cloud infrastructure, and AI model repositories.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of third-party services. Outages, errors, or changes to third-party services may affect the functionality of RedactVault, and we shall not be liable for any resulting disruption or loss.
Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
11. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review the Privacy Policy to understand how we handle personal data.
12. Service Availability
We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee continuous availability, error-free operation, or uninterrupted access.
We may suspend or limit access for scheduled or emergency maintenance, for security reasons, or due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of automated detections or AI-assisted features
- Uninterrupted, timely, or error-free operation
RedactVault is a tool to assist redaction. It is not a substitute for professional legal, compliance, or regulatory review.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. In such cases, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RedactVault and its operators, affiliates, and licensors shall not be liable for any:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
- Loss of data or documents
- Regulatory fines, penalties, or enforcement actions
- Business interruption
- Damages arising from reliance on automated detection results
- Damages arising from third-party service failures
Our total aggregate liability arising from or related to the Service or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty euros (€50).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
15. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless RedactVault and its operators, affiliates, and licensors from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Your failure to verify redaction accuracy before distributing documents
- Any content you process using the Service
This section does not apply where prohibited by applicable consumer protection law.
16. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if necessary to protect platform security or the rights of other users.
Termination does not relieve you of outstanding payment obligations.
16.1 Effect of Termination
Upon termination or account deletion:
- Your access to paid features will cease at the end of your current billing period
- We will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. billing records)
- Documents processed locally in your browser are not stored by us and are unaffected by account termination
- You are responsible for exporting any data you wish to retain before closing your account
Sections 9, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 19 survive termination of these Terms.
17. Dispute Resolution
We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any dispute informally. Please email support@redactvault.com with a description of the issue, and we will attempt to resolve it in good faith within 30 days.
17.1 EU/EEA Users
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA and we cannot resolve the dispute informally, you may refer the matter to the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform provided by the European Commission at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. You also retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
17.2 US Users
If you are located in the United States and informal resolution is unsuccessful, any dispute shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Ireland, unless mandatory arbitration or small claims court provisions in your state of residence require otherwise.
17.3 All Other Users
For users outside the EU/EEA and the United States, any unresolved dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland, except where your local law grants you mandatory rights to bring proceedings in your local courts.
18. Force Majeure
RedactVault shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government actions, power outages, internet or telecommunications failures, cyberattacks, or failures of third-party service providers.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you retain any mandatory protections provided by the laws of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms restricts your right to rely on those protections.
If you are located in the United States, you acknowledge that Irish law governs these Terms, but you retain any non-waivable rights granted under the laws of your state of residence.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide at least 30 days' notice through the Service or via email before the changes take effect.
Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service before they take effect.
21. General Provisions
21.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and RedactVault regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, communications, or understandings, whether written or oral.
21.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if modification is not possible, severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
21.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by RedactVault to be effective.
21.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction.
